The research and classification of tiltable plate classifier

 The ore beneficiation designing institute of the former Soviet Union introduced the application of tiltable plate classifier in the concentrate, desliming, dehydration and grading process in 1980. The upper part is a rectangular tank, and the bottom has two grit cones. The overflow area of standard classifier is 1.3m2, the tiltable plate 0.8m long, 1.0m wide and 25mm high. The dip angle is 600 degrees. When it processes the materials with -44um particle account for 45%, the classification efficiency can improve from 33% to 80% with the increases of feeding materials, and the content of -44 um particles decline from 33% to 12%. The content of -44 um particles in the overflow is 99.8# to 923.5%. Compared with cone thickener and hydraulic classifier, the processing capacity such as classifying, dense and desliming of tiltable plate classifier is 4-9 times than their capacity, and other technical indicators are to the same.

Our research and application of classifier began in 1960s. In 1978, Zhongnan Mining and Metallurgical Institute and Henan Hongxing designed and produced 2.5m×2.5m tiltable plate classifier box which was used in the classifying instead of the +250mm water spiral classifier. The classifier has two boxes. The upper one is a 850mm×1000mm long and wide, 5mm thick smooth glass plate or 10mm thick plastic board, the dip angle is 600, the distance between plates is 100mm, the top of plate is under the overflow surface 250mm, as shown in figure 3.4-48. The material uniformly entered the upper box, the most coarse particles fall directly to the grit boxes, the fine particles will flow along the inclined board to the overflow surface, and the middle particles will fall in this process and slide to the grit box. Production practice has showed that this classifier can protect the particle size and its efficiency can be up to 50%-55%. In 1983, the Northwest metallurgical and geological institute researched the tilt and hydraulic separation tube by reference to the foreign Lavodune hydraulic classifier.
